Blowing bubbles and making foams is an easy exercise? Not so, if you are a bubble artist or a foam scientist. In either case, ingredients of complex formulations and processes of generation/manipulation need to be optimised to convince these highly fragile objects to deliver a reliable and reproducible performance. This is why bubble artist Sébastien Kauffmann and foam scientists from the MIM team at the Institut Charles Sadron have joined forces in a collaboration. Together they hunt for the ideal polymer to make bubbles last longer and for the ideal method to turn heaps of foams into interactive marionettes! The collaboration includes mutual visits and residences and will also be extended to other artists and performers in the future. Watch this space!
